A senior naturalist at Mass Audubon’s Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary in Lincoln, Tia will share insights into how you can support local species by utilizing wildlife-friendly gardening practices in your landscape and in the community.

REGULAR MEETING, Program: “The Joys of Floral Design” with Amy Miles, designer at Copper Penny Flowers, Concord. She will demonstrate floral design techniques by creating two arrangements, with a chance for attendees to win one.

A designer with Copper Penny Flowers in Concord, Amy started her career after discovering that flowers are what bring her joy in life. She will demonstrate use of floral design concepts as she creates two floral arrangements. And, you may be one of two lucky members to take one home!

REGULAR MEETING, Program: “Shade Gardening” with Kathi Gariepy, a Lifetime Master Gardener and landscape design expert. She will cover plant selections and strategies for maintaining a garden that thrives in shade, ensuring blooms and interest year-round.

Shade gardening presents both unique opportunities and unique problems. Kathy Gariepy, a Lifetime Master Gardener who studied landscape design at Rhode Island School of Design, will discuss a variety of shade gardening situations, suggest shade plants to use and how to select them so your garden is in bloom spring through fall and contains winter interest.

EVENING MEETING (Open to the Public) Program: In Praise of Goldenrods, in Gardens and Beyond with Francie Von Mertens. A land conservation advocate, Francie will discuss the value of goldenrod species for wildlife and how to incorporate them into perennial gardens.

Francie has been active for many years in land conservation and helped create the pollinator garden at the Harris Center for Conservation Education in Hancock, NH. She is the author of the Nature Almanac & Calendar: Nature Observed in Backyard and Beyond. She will discuss why the goldenrod species is one of nature’s greatest gifts to wildlife and which goldenrod species are best suited to perennial gardens.

REGULAR MEETING, Program: Artists’ Gardens in New England with Jana Milbocker. Explore the private gardens of famous painters, sculptors, and actors, including Edith Wharton, Emily Dickinson, and Augustus Saint-Gaudens.

Some of our most beloved painters, sculptors and actors were inspired by the gardens they created. Join us as Jana Milbocker of Enchanted Gardens leads us through a virtual tour of the private havens of Edith Wharton, Julian Alden Weir, Childe Hassam, Daniel Chester French, Emily Dickinson, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Celia Thaxter and others.

Plant drop-off is from 8:00–9:00 a.m. on the day of the sale. There will be plants from member gardens, native perennials, and lots of Bric-a-Brac.

ANNUAL MEETING, Program: Using Your Smart Phone: Flower Photography and Workshop with Christina Wood, a national photography judge for The Garden Club of America. Christina will present techniques for flower photography using smartphones, followed by a hands-on workshop in the Pierce House gardens. Social time will follow the workshop.

Come join us at the annual meeting for Christina’s presentation on using your smartphone for flower photography. Christina, a member of the Nanette Garden Club, is a national photography judge for The Garden Club of America. A workshop will follow in the Pierce House gardens for those interested in trying out their newly learned techniques.
